COMMUNICATIONS SUNDAY_______________________
13 May, 2012, Lusaka Presbytery looks at theme ”Seeking the Church Transformed through communication”.
Communication is the transmission of an idea, view, or opinion etc from one person to another. This is done through various means including letters, word, prints and electronic media e.g (News papers, Radios, Computers and Televisions). Communication is a two way process that involves the sender, receivers, medium and the message.
Genesis 1:1 – 3, this is the book of new beginning, the beginning of creation of the word, the first relationship, creation of language as a medium of communication and identification of a chosen nation.
And God said, ‘let there be light’ and there was light,’ God used the tool of communication to bring things into existence and all was described as good. It is important to note that before God spoke a word, the earth was formless void and darkness covered the face of the earth. It is through God’s word that transformation of the earth took place. This passage teaches us that communicating in a godly way helps to build relations, transform life and make the world a better place to live in.
The Apostle Paul in Galatians 1: 10 – 20 puts up a defense of the gospel by communicating his background, his calling as an Apostle and his mission to the gentiles based on a solid foundation. This solid is his encounter with the risen Lord Jesus Christ. It was as a result of God’s intervention that Paul was to continue preaching the gospel of Christ to the gentiles.
The gospel according to John, John 1: 1 – 5, begins with, ”In the beginning there was the Word …..” the Greek word (logos) of God is more than a speech. It is godly pre-eminent agent in the world, creating and redeeming not only humanity but the cosmos as well. The word of God’s idea that holds the universe together. . ……….
